I had read several of the previous reviews and was very skeptical because some said it was run-down, dated, etc. My French husband and I ended up here because many things in town were full. I don’t know if we got a renovated room or what but our experience was great.

Our 2 air conditioners worked very well. The pool was clean and had a great view, and as you can see in the photo, our balcony was picture perfect.

Make sure to visit the Fort San Felipe museum. We thought it would be a tourist trap, but the information is actually really well presented, and you can really learn a lot about the history of the Mayan Indians, the Spaniard conquistadors, pirates, and this fantastic place. We ate at the restaurant 2nd floor on the north side of the plaza, and the service was the fastest we have had in Mexico – the waiter also told us about an amazing cozumel motorcycle tour near Bacalar.

The margaritas, food, and prices were high too. The lagoon of Bacalar was perfect temperature even if it was super windy. Many told us that the Bacalar boat tour is a great experience, but the wind was so strong, and we decided that we will have to come back for that. Make sure to swim, Water is lovely.

Is a great place to stay, the rooms were clean and very helpful. Friendly staff. We had a whole villa with 2 rooms, kitchen, living room, extra space with a futon. Rooms were overlooking the lagoon with balcony. The only thing missing was maybe some complimentary coffee for coffee maker.

My husband and I, along with 2 friends, just spent 2 nights here. The front desk man was very nice and spoke a little English. We had a master villa on the first floor with 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a combined living room, dining area, and kitchen with another sitting area joined the LR by a door along with a large veranda. Lots of space!

Do bring Water as none was provided for drinking, making ice, or coffee. Also, there is not a sharp knife in the kitchen. We got glasses from the bar. My one suggestion to the hotel is to put mattress covers on the beds and offer beach towels to use at the pool. We all would definitely stay here again. It is centrally located and secure.
