I found out about this place through word of mouth as they are not on Hostelworld, and I am so glad I did! Had the best stay at Magic Bacalar. The staff is friendly and helpful. Facilities are gorgeous, and the private dock with hammocks and seating is incredible.

Breakfast is excellent and decent portions, toast with jam or eggs and beans along with fruit, juice, and coffee. So happy to have stayed here and absolutely recommend! A little way from town but walking distance to a bus stop (15mins), but you come here for the lake anyways.

I highly recommend this place for the budget backpacker. The dorm right on the water has fabulous views and hammocks. The workers are amiable and the breakfast – one of them told about the mayan riviera fishing trip that is a must in Cozumel, while small, is homemade. You can take boat tours through them as well. Quiet at night. Nice boat dock for sunbathing!

I went for a whole week vacation, I was looking for a safe place to relax since I was traveling alone for the first time, this place didn’t disappoint. It was clean, the people working there were very kind, and the views are just amazing.

It has a camping ground where you can either set up your own tent or rent one, they have as well shared dormitories and private rooms; there are 2 shared kitchens. Bathrooms are high, (hot water is great for chilly mornings) TIP WIFI works better all around the reception area as well as the shared space (close to the entrance). Special shout out to the fantastic cook Doña Vero, they provide 2 kinds of breakfast either continental or mexican (Eggs, beans & tortilla) with fruit and juice, very yummy.

Since I stayed for 7 days I had the chance to try the lunch menu, let me tell you the dishes prepared by Doña Vero were absolutely delicious and very accessible (price range), it is a bit more expensive to eat in town, and it is not as filling or satisfying.

The same way special thanks to Jonathan and Lorenzo, who made sure my check-in, stay, and checkout were comfortable and relaxed. They offered information about the town, activities and even took the time to chat with me. I will be back soon here! and definitely recommended this excellent experience!
